Dear Teens,

You are invited to be part of a prestigious youth philanthropy organization that is quickly gaining respect and attention thoughout Los Angeles. As part of this select group of Jewish teens you will gain an opportunity to have a significant impact on some of the difficult problems in our community and the world.

KI Tzedakah Teens, a philanthropic youth foundation, is a group of teen who are willing to commit time and energy to learn about and positively impace challenging soical issues from a Jewish perspective. Teens will be given the opportunity to determine how to responsibly give up to $20,000 to organizations that they determine are most effective in making the world a better place.

Being part of KI Tzedakah Teens gives you the following:

Greater sophistication about money and how it can be leveraged to make positive change in the world;

Deeper knowledge about how the wisdom of Judaism can inform your decisions about the money and how to use it for prosperity for all;

Connection to other intelligent and mature Jewish teens who are passionate about making a difference in the world;

A meaningful extracurricular activity on your resume to help open the door for college and other job positions.

The youth foundation is led by specially trained adult facilitators who will be role models and mentors for the teens and will guide them through the decision-making process. The third year of KI Tzedakah Teens is open to Ki teens in grades 8 - 12, and will begin in the fall of 2010. We will start with a weekend retreat at the end of September and then meet once a month on Sunday afternoons for two and one half hours per meeting. Admission to the KI Tzedakah Teens program is based on an application and interview. Being able to attend 80% of the meetings is a prerequisite for becoming a member.

There are two separate fees for participating in KITT. First, a $350 program fee payable to Kehillat Israel will partially subsidize the cost of the facilitators and the weekend retreat. Second, each teen who sits on the KITT Board is expected to make a personal contirbution of $180 to KI's Ziering Tzedakah Teen Fund. All applications must be turned in my Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. to be considered for the foundation.
