Rabbi Carrie Vogel serves as the Assistant Director of Youth and Family Education. Carrie is responsible for the Jewish Experience, the Hebrew curriculum, and works with Alice to oversee the Auerbach Family Religious School.
Carrie was ordained as a rabbi from the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles in May of 2009. In addition, she received a Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters and a Master of Arts in Jewish Education from HUC-JIR. During Carrie’s time in rabbinic school she worked at a number of synagogues, camps and day schools in the greater Los Angeles area. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Cincinnati.
Carrie and her husband Brian are Ohio natives (Go Buckeyes!), but you’ll be hard pressed to find them back there during the winter months.

Alice Greenwald serves as the Director of Youth and Family Education of the Ermest and Lisa Auerbach Family Religious School. Her commitment to education and dedication to children and families are evident in her passion for excellence, innovation and creativity in the classroom and outside the walls.
Programs developed under Alice’s leadership at Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Synagogue in Chicago, where she served for nine years as the Education Director, and at Kehillat Israel, have become models for educating children, teens and families.
Alice holds a California K - 8 teaching credential and a Master's degree in Educational Psychology. She has over 30 years of teaching, counseling and administrative experience in Los Angeles, Bishop and Chicago.
Alice was a co-founder and past president of REACH (Reconstructionist Educators' Association of Chicago) and is currently an active member of RENA (Reconstructionist Educators of North America).
